Hailey was born while her parents were in France, her father’s birthplace. Because of this, she has dual citizenship in France and the USA. Her life started out well. She was the only child of Hannah and Lucas Devereux and they loved her very much. They spoiled her with material things as they had a lot of money. She was raised mostly by nannies, as her parents were always busy with work. When she was five years old, her mom signed her up for ballet lessons. Hailey loved it and did very well.

While she was in elementary school, she continued to excel in ballet. When she preformed she usually got the lead role. She had many friends from ballet and school, as she was a very social child. She did well in all of her classes and the teachers loved her.

By the time she reached middle school, she felt an enormous amount of pressure from her parents to be perfect. She was in all advanced placement classes at school and her parents freaked out if she got less than a 4.0. She felt pressure to do well in ballet and knew her parents wanted her to have the lead role. She did not want to disappoint them. Her ballet performances were the one time she actually saw her parents, as they made it a point to go to as many as they could. She felt horrible when she did not get the lead role a few times, and her mother made a comment about her weight. After that, Hailey really watched what she ate and began smoking to help keep her weight down.

When she reached her Freshman year of high school Hailey’s life changed dramatically. She started smoking more and was caught a few times trying to buy them underage. Her nanny began to notice that she was underweight and brought this to the attention of her parents. Lucas agreed with the nanny. Hannah disagreed with Lucas and clamed that Hailey was fine, and was just keeping her body in shape for ballet. They started having many fights over this, and decided by the time she started her Sophomore year, to get separated. They fought over who should have custody of Hailey. This added stress caused her to start harming herself by scratching. She has been very careful to hide it from everyone, so no one knows about this.

A typical day for Hailey was waking up at 5am and having a cup of coffee, diet pills and a piece of fruit for breakfast. She worked out and practiced ballet. Then went to school from 7:25 am to 2:30pm. Hailey skipped lunch and just has an energy drink to keep herself going. After that she did homework from 3-4pm, went to a group dance lesson from 4:30-6:30, then had dinner with the girls from dance. None of them seemed to notice or mind that she didn’t eat much for dinner, usually just part of a very small salad with no dressing to add extra fat. If she felt like she ate too much she would force herself to vomit in the bathroom. Then she had a private lesson from 7-9pm. After that, she went home and usually practiced at home for an hour and then started more homework. She usually went to bed around 1 or 2 am before getting up and doing it all over again.

Hailey’s father now has primary custody of Hailey. He made her go see a psychologist a week ago, who recommended Hailey be sent to Horizon against her will to get help. After seeing the psychologist and being told she was going to Horizon, Hailey secretly cut herself on the thigh for the first time.
