now we're getting somewhere. where should we start? how about the fact that shelby can ooze sarcasm. say something stupid: prepare to be targeted. irritation is when she uses sarcasm the most and she's almost always irritated. whenever she's upset or pissed off, sarcastic remarks will come flying out of her mouth. on the rare occasions when she's not upset and she's just being sarcastic because its needed, her remarks are funny, well some of them are anyway.

shelby is essentially a bitch. she hates to feel like she's being judged and she hates when people think they're better than her. sometimes she thinks they just may be right. there's no way in hell she'd tell them that though. she's irresistible in so many ways that guys can't help but to be drawn to her. she uses that to her advantage all the time. thats how she survived when she was on the streets. she can manipulate people with the best of them. some of that is a mask though. o she puts up a barrier around herself. she had to stop being a little girl a long time ago. she's experienced a lot more bad than good so she doesn't like to let people get close to her. basically experience has taught her that people suck. the people that say they love you, really don't. and all they do is take, take take until there's nothing left. if you let people get close to you, thats the fastest way to get yourself hurt. so she just tries to avoid that all together. she doesn't think people can except her for who she is. that's all she wants. maybe when someone excepts her and tells her she's worth something, anything, everything, then she'll finally believe it herself. she tries to hide all of the pain because she doesn't want to be vulnerable or look weak. weak people never make it anywhere in life. she's not all bad though. trust me. she's really just a girl dying to be loved and accepted on the inside.

that's not to say she's weak. shelby is fierce in every way. she won't hesitate to bite your head off, when she's pissed, which is majority of the time. she's seriously scary. if you decide to cross her in anyway, well it's your funeral. she'll destroy you first and ask questions later if you piss her off. actually, she probably won't ask questions at all. it's just best if you stay out of her way. that is if you want to live. if you have a death wish, go ahead and piss her off. i dare you.

History: Family never had a lot of money. Her mother was putting her father through college so that he could become an advertisement executive. Her parents were always fighting about money, especially after her father finished with school. Her mother got fired and her father announced that he was no longer happy in this marriage and wanted a divorce. In actuality he had started sleeping with another woman. Shelby's parents got divorced when she was young. She hasn't even seen her father since the divorce became final. Her father moved to Los Angeles leaving her mother to take care of her and her little sister Jess. Her mother took a waitressing job which was barely enough to take care of their three family home. They lost their house and were forced to move into a smaller house outside of the city.

Her mother remarried to her stepfather, Walt Collins. Shelby didn't like Walt and felt like he was trying to replace her father. Walt was a construction worker at the time. When she was eleven, Shelby's stepfather began molesting her. She never told anyone because he promised that if she kept it a secret, he would never touch her little sister Jess. She used to be scared to go to sleep at night, knowing that no matter what, he would be coming into her room to get what he wanted from her. At fourteen, she began running away in order to get away from him. Each time, her mother or the police tracked her down and brought her back home. The last time she ran away, she lived on the streets for almost a year. She slept under the Santa Monica Pier for two weeks, stole, and begged on the streets. She began turning tricks to make money to survive. She hated the thought of having sex for money, however she did what she had to in order to survive. She got mixed up in drugs as well and watched her best friend OD on cocaine. Her mother finally found her and sent her off to Horizon.

Shelby helped Scott through his problems with his stepmother and went with Daisy to her mother's funeral. She eventually and reluctantly told him about what she did on the streets and like she feared, he couldn't accept it. He eventually told her that he did, but she is still unsure. Came clean about her stepfather over a month ago, when she was forced to go home and take care of him when he had a heart attack. When she found out that he had done the same to her sister Jess while she was gone, she confronted her mother and called the police. She was sent back to Horizon to finish out her treatment and schooling. Each and every day she feels dirty about what she did and feels she will never be able to be loved because of her past.
