Aaron wasn’t safe around knives, knives were extremely tempting to the young 17 year old, they just seemed to say “Pick me up, I want to cut through your skin like butter”, so the counsellors had told him to go to the woodshed and chop some wood…well, that was fun.
So, here he was walking down to the woodshed. It was a cloudy day with threatening rain clouds. It had rained earlier in the day which hadn’t been fun whatsoever. The grass was wet and it made Aaron’s trainers wet and his soaks slightly damp, not good. He grumbled to himself, stuffing his hands into his pockets of his jeans and trudged along.
The path that led to the Woodstock shed wasn’t too muddy, not yet anyway and it silenced his footsteps. He stopped suddenly and glanced back at the school, thinking he heard something but he realized that it was a bird. He glanced to where the noise was coming from and saw that the bird was a robin, fluttering from branch to branch and twittering. Aaron came closer and closer and stared up at the bird who stared at him with it’s small, beady eyes and then chirped and spread its small wings and fluttered away. Aaron watched, and then walked on towards the shed.
He had been down here countless times, it was so familiar but the faces that he saw normally were not. It was quite a big shed, with logs piled up and a few saws and axes lying around, the place had CCTV and all the students knew this because many had tried to kill or cut themselves on the axes or saws. Aaron remembered when that had happened once, a boy had tried to kill himself with an axe and no one had been there to stop him, he had later died in hospital from his wounds so they had put in the cameras and were watching.
Aaron glanced up at one of these said cameras and it twitched towards him, he stared back blankly at it, and then blinked and walked over to one of the axes, he better get on with the job in hand.

*it won't be long, my darling ! , PICK UP THE PHONE NOBODY'S ON IT Melina didn't want to be here. Nor did she want to be at home. All in all she had to say that being here was better than being at her old school. The one thing that she hated about being her was the fact that they always wanted her to open up and talk about her feelings. She didn't want to talk about her feelings. When would they understand that? If she hadn't talked about her feelings three weeks since she first got here, what would make them think she would ever want to? At least she had plenty of things to take her mind off of talking about her feelings. At least she had plenty of things to do in order to take her mind off of...everything.
She made her way down the path that led to the woodshed. Why they allowed completely certifiable teenage rejects handle sharp object, she would never quite understand. At least it let her blow off some steam. Its not like talking helped her do that lately. But then again, she hadn't done much talking lately, so she really wouldn't know. The smell of fresh rain was everywhere. She hoped it would rain again. The rain had always been a favorite of hers. The path was a little slippery and she almost lost her balance a few times. Finally, she made it to the woodshed only to see that it was already currently occupied. Crap. She forgot that they usually made the chop wood in pairs, unless the person chopping wood was doing so as a punishment.
She slowly walked up to him and shyly pushed her bangs out of her face. She fidgeted with her hair, which was in french braids, and looked at him. A small voice rang out, shocking Aaron who had been completely lost in his own thoughts to register anyone coming into the shed, he turned around, and axe in hand and a smile appeared across his face. ”Hello.” he realized that he had the dangerous looking instrument in his hand so quickly put it down on the floor by the log that he had been chopping.
”So, you’ve been drafted into this crap as well?” the small smile was still playing on his lips as he watched the girl with her pretty French braids…aww…she didn’t look a veteran of the place, another newbie…oh the joys!
”I am not really meant to be doing this.” he jerked his head to the log pile, ”But I don’t go well with knives so they packed me off down here…I mean.” he glanced over at the axe, ”If that was a little smaller, I’d have fun with it…but it isn’t so I have to do what normal people seem to do and chop wood.” he smiled back at her.
”The name’s Aaron.” he came towards her, the small smile still on his face, ”If there is two of us, the job wont take too long.”

*it won't be long, my darling ! , PICK UP THE PHONE NOBODY'S ON IT Melina took a small step backwards, trying to keep a distance. The boy didn't automatically drop the axe that he had in his hand. It was silly to think that he would hurt her, however, given where they were, it wasn't like anyone would here her scream right away. Anything was quite possible. The boy did put the axe down though and that made Melina feel a bit more comfortable, though not much, which really was not his fault. That's just how she was lately.
He explained that he wasn't supposed to be on wood chopping duty and added some type of explanation on why they preferred not to let him near the actual kitchen knives to often. She still didn't quite make the connects that he was trying to imply though. Why would anyone have fun with an axe if it was smaller? Well excluding axe murderers obviously. He introduced himself as Aaron. she guessed that this was the point that she was supposed to introduce herself to him. "I'm umm....I'm Melina." She toyed with one of her french braids, chewing on it a tad bit. She tended to do that when she was nervous, uncomfortable, or just plain thinking. It was a habit her parents had been trying to break her of since she was little.
"Umm....I've only chopped wood twice since I've been here and i wasn't very good at it either time. I'll give it another go though. It's not like I have a choice."she shrugged. He looked like he knew what he was doing. She only hopped that he wouldn't laugh too hard when it was her turn. * where are your friends now, baby? ! , ALL OF THE ONES SUPPOSED TO BE THERE FOR YOU tagged , aaron g. outfit , outfit!words , 289. lyrics , falling down by selena gomez. status , finished. notes , haha not my best

Aaron rarely hurt anyone; it was more him hurting himself. But he understood that she probably didn’t like the fact that he had had a axe in his hands…not the best way to introduce one’s self. The girl’s braids made her look rather sweet…
"I'm umm....I'm Melina." She was toying with her French braid again…how cute. He smiled at her, ”Nice to meet you Melina. I take it you’re new?” he didn’t really know much about the newbies…that was understandable as he didn’t really spend much time with them and they had only been here a few weeks/days etc. It was amazing how many so called “difficult” people there were in the world and only at a place like this could the actual amount be counted up and “normalized.”
"Umm....I've only chopped wood twice since I've been here and i wasn't very good at it either time. I'll give it another go though. It's not like I have a choice."
Aaron smiled slightly, ”Yeah, I didn’t really have a choice either. If you need help then shout…or say something, I’ve been here long enough to know what to do.” he picked up at the axe and swung it down on to the piece of wood, it cut neatly in two and fell off the stump that it was on. He bent down and picked up the two cut pieces, chucking them carefully into the pile.
”I don’t really see how this helps…” he muttered, glancing at the girl.

*it won't be long, my darling ! , PICK UP THE PHONE NOBODY'S ON IT By the looks of things, this boy was definitely older than her. She wasn't sure just how much older he was. One, maybe two years? He had obviously been in longer than she had based on his question asking if she was new. All Horizon students who were there for less than two months were considered to be new. She herself had only been there for three weeks, but her one month mark was getting closer and closer by the minute. With the thought of the word one month, her hand absent mindedly made its way to her stomach. She caught herself mid-motion and immediately crossed her arms over her chest. She couldn't give off any hints to anyone about her secret. She just couldn't.
She nodded in response to his question about her being new. "Yes, I've been here for about three weeks. I'm a pathwinder." She didn't understand why they had named the groups the way they did. She understood that each name had something to do with outdoors and nature, but that was as far as her understanding went. "Umm....what are you if you don't mind me asking? How long have you been here?" Realizing she was prying and he probably didn't want to even tell her anything she quickly backtracked. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. In fact we don't have to talk at all. You can leave if you like. I didn't mean to come and bother you. I can probably manage to do the rest. Not that I'm saying you have to leave. You can stay if you want. It's just that I'm sure you have better things to do. I just mean..." Yes she was rambling and rather quickly at that. She tended to ramble when she was nervous, another habit her family had been trying to break her out of. She clamped her mouth shut, realizing how annoying she probably sounded and began to fidget with her braid again.
She watched as the axe sliced through the wood swiftly and quite clean, just as if it was butter. He really was good at this. Wait. What had he just said? Something about not knowing how this helped. Biting her bottom lip she said, "I guess it does sort of give us a way to let out any frustration we have. Though, I'm still not sure why they think it is a good idea to give wacked out teens sharp instruments." * where are your friends now, baby? ! , ALL OF THE ONES SUPPOSED TO BE THERE FOR YOU tagged , aaron g. outfit , outfit!words , 431. lyrics , falling down by selena gomez. status , finished. notes , haha not my best

"Umm....what are you if you don't mind me asking? How long have you been here?"
”Cliffhanger…don’t really see the point of that name, gives me nasty images in my mind…cliff hanging.” he shuddered at the thought and then shrugged, ”Been here 2 years, way too long!” he sat down on the stump that had been where the wood had been and looked over at her, she looked young…16? He wasn’t very good with ages.
She began to ramble "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. In fact we don't have to talk at all. You can leave if you like. I didn't mean to come and bother you. I can probably manage to do the rest. Not that I'm saying you have to leave. You can stay if you want. It's just that I'm sure you have better things to do. I just mean..."
”Hey, hey calm down.” he got up and made his way towards her careful; he glanced at her stomach and her arms but took no notice. Stretching up he carefully took hold of one of her braids and twirled it in her fingers. ”Did you do these?” he asked and let go of it quickly, stepping away and giving her personal space.
"I guess it does sort of give us a way to let out any frustration we have. Though, I'm still not sure why they think it is a good idea to give wacked out teens sharp instruments."
”Yeah, sharp instruments. Too big to do the damage I like.” he went back to chopping the wood, ”Better not rest for too long, they have eyes.” he jerked his head at the cameras on the walls.

*it won't be long, my darling ! , PICK UP THE PHONE NOBODY'S ON IT A Cliffhanger. Two years. Wow. She imagined herself two years from now still here. Of course since she was only fifteen and a sophomore she would be here for two years, until she graduated from high school. She wasn't quite sure how she felt about that. It had to be better than going back to her old school. Anything was probably better than that. As she looked at Aaron, she wondered why he was here? He didn't look too bad, though he did keep making rather odd references to the fun of sharp objects. Of course she wasn't going to ask. No that would lead to him asking her what her reasons for being here were.
At the sound of her rambling, he walked over to her, catching her off guard for a second. She also didn't expect him to lean over and begin playing with her braid for a split second. She was quite speechless for a minute, unsure of what do do or say. When she finally found her voice she said, "Sorry. I tend to ramble sometimes. I'm working on it, but obviously the work isn't really doing much." She rocked back and forth on her heels. She figured she should answer his question. "Umm...yes I did them myself," she said self-consciously touching both braids.
She looked up at the cameras, almost forgetting they were there. She wondered if people really watched the cameras 24 hours a day.
