Anthony sat down at an empty table after getting his food... if you could even call it that. It might have been just him but it didn't look very good. He just sat and stared at it. He felt sick anyways. It had been a week and a half since he was able to shoot up or take anything. Memories of things he had tried to forget were starting to become clearer and coming more often. Something he didn't want to happen, something he strived to forget. Why he was in this whole mess to begin with. Assult charges would have been ok but since there was a possession charge on there too he needed to be here at this school for screw ups. At least he knew now that his sister just wanted to get rid of him, she didn't even take him to the school herself .. she sent two of her body guards instead. He hated that she took on the same business as what killed they're parents. Yeah Anthony wanted revenge too but having people after you to kill you was not how he wanted to do it.
His blue eyes scanned the room full of people. He hadn't been very aquainted with any of these people. Though he hasn't been very social. He wasn't in the best of moods having to be out in the middle of no where. Away from all the parties, the drugs, his friends, and .. Sam. Here .. He was supposed to be getting his life back on track, but for him .. It was already right on track with where he wanted it to be. Numbness on the inside and not a thought or a memory in his head. It was becoming increasingly hard for him to sleep at night without having the drugs to make him sleep so deep he didn't dream. His eyes looked back down to his food without even moving to eat it.

*can't stay at home, can't stay at school. old folks say, ya poor little fool ! DOWN THE STREET I'M THE GIRL NEXT DOOR. I'M THE FOX YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR Shelby walked into the cafeteria and took a look around. The place had not changed. There were a few new faces, but other than that it was exactly the same as it had been on her first day here 10 months ago. She looked over at the table occupied by the Cliffhangers and rolled her eyes. She did not feel like sitting with her usual crowd today. She was in quite a mood as of late and no one was sure why. She knew of course, but she sure as hell wasn't going to try and make people understand what was wrong with her. The fact was, her mother had called earlier and they had gotten into it...majorly. There was a bit of yelling, screaming, and a bit of foul language to boot, mostly on Shelby's part. Her mother still couldn't see to rap her head around the fact that Shelby and her sister were practically damaged goods thanks to her husband, who she had yet to divorce. What the hell was her mother still doing married to the creep that had molested her daughters countless times? That's exactly what Shelby had asked her mother and when the woman could not provide an answer, the girl hung up on her because she knew that her mother had no real logical explanation.
So no, she didn't quite feel like sitting with the other cliffhangers and having the badger and pry and try and figure out what was wrong with her. She grabbed a tray and skipped ahead in the line, ignoring a few of the suggestive stares she was getting from the guys. Yes, her midriff was exposed. Not much, but just enough that it still fell within the guidelines and rules of the Horizon dress code. She was wearing one of her favorite shirts. She was obsessed with any and everything 80s related and that included the movie Fame. She ran her fingers through her long wavy brown hair and tossed it to the side as the group behind the counter put the food on her plate. She was glad that the schedule had gotten switched around and the Cliffhangers were not on kitchens this week.
After her plate was filled with whatever crap the Ridgerunners had cooked up today, she looked around and found a nearly empty table. She didn't recognize the boy sitting at it and assumed he was a new kid. Most new kids sat on their on for the first few days...or weeks. She also knew that most new kids didn't talk much, which is what she really wanted. Ignoring the looks she got from the other Cliffhangers, especially Scott, her boyfriend, she took a seat at the kids table, not even bothering to ask if it was okay. Like she really gave a shit whether or not this kid wanted her to sit with him. * hello daddy, hello mom, i'm your ch ch ch ch ch cherry bomb ! , HELLO WORLD I'M YOUR WILD GIRL, I'M YOUR CH CH CH CH CH CHERRY BOMB tagged , anthony m.p! outfit , outfit!words , 489. lyrics , cherry bomb by the runaways. status , finished. notes , well hello there.

Anthony heard someone sitting down across from him. He really wasn't in the mood for making friends. His eyes moved from the still full plate in front of him to the brown haired girl now sitting across from him. She must have confused him with someone who looked like they wanted company. She couldn't have been more wrong. He already had the friends he wanted. The ones who could hook him up with the things he wanted. But now that this girl was sitting with him he wasn't sure if he should tell her to leave or .. be nice to her. Then there was the choice to say nothing at all.
His eyes moved back down to his food. He still wasn't so sure about the meals here. He knew if he didn't get out of here he'd die of starvation soon. His eyes moved from his plate once again and noticed a counselor watching him now. Maybe they thought he had an eating disorder since he wasn't eating his food. No .. It couldn't be that the food was crap .. Nope not at all. The problem was always with the kids. Just because they've been sent here means one little thing that might seem unnormal is because they're screwed up. Then again they could be watching this girl and not him. Maybe she was in some sort of trouble. Or maybe they sent her to see if she could get something out of him since they obviously couldn't. What ever it was he still didn't want company. His eyes then moved to her once again then back down to his plate.

*can't stay at home, can't stay at school. old folks say, ya poor little fool ! DOWN THE STREET I'M THE GIRL NEXT DOOR. I'M THE FOX YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR "They're just going to keep staring until you take a bite. Even if I was to get up and leave they would go on watching you. Druggies going through withdrawal and treated like eating disorders at first. They have to eat," Shelby said taking a bite of her food. She was fully aware of the eyes on her. Well, on both of them. She knew hew was too. It was rather annoying as well. She knew that they were probably wondering why she had chosen to sit with the boy especially since Shelby was never extra welcome to the new people, especially if they weren't in her group. They were also probably wondering whether they should be reprimanding her for her outfit. Sure it still fell within the dress code, but it was a bit suggestive. She would probably get a warning if anything. "So I would appreciate it if you took a bite of the damn food so you can stop drawing attention to us. I would rather not have them come over to deal with you and I get sideswiped with a lecture of sorts just by association."
She looked up at him as she took another bite of her own food. It was obvious that he was going through withdrawal. Well, it may not be obvious to everyone, but to people who know what to look for and what it looks like, it was obvious. She gave him a rather irritated look. A girl, she was a pathwinder, walked past and gave Shelby a disgusted look. "Scoping out new meat already trailer trash? If you're getting bored with Scott I would be more than happy to take him off your hands," the girl said with a fake smile. Shelby stood up out of her seat and put a smile on her face. She leaned over the table and said, "Lay one finger on Scott and I'll kick your fucking teeth in and break you in half. Shouldn't be too hard since you way like a pound. Shall I tell Hannah about catching you barfing up your dinner the other day, while I'm at it Stacey?" Her tone was a completely bittersweet one and though the smile was still on her face, it was obvious that what she said was far from an empty threat. Stacey just flipped her blonde hair over her shoulder and walked away from the table. Shelby sat back down. "Stupid Bitch," she said under her breath. Why was it that she was constantly getting tested in this place? * hello daddy, hello mom, i'm your ch ch ch ch ch cherry bomb ! , HELLO WORLD I'M YOUR WILD GIRL, I'M YOUR CH CH CH CH CH CHERRY BOMB tagged , anthony m.p! outfit , outfit!words , 431. lyrics , cherry bomb by the runaways. status , finished. notes , well hello there.

Anthony looked up to her as she started speaking. She said something about with drawls. It wasn't very obvious to people who didn't know what it was like or what to look for. That and he had said nothing about it. He said nothing in the first place. She went on talking. How she would appreciate it if he'd just eat so they didn't come over to deal with him and her get in trouble by association. He watched her interaction with some girl. They talked about some guy named Scott and one girl made an assumption that the girl sitting with Anthony had a crush on him. He watched quietly. They were then left alone again and the girl sitting with him sat back down.
After a couple minutes he leaned forward and looked down at his food again. He picked up a fork and took a bite. He made a face then swallowed it. It really did taste almost as bad as it looked. Though he was sure most of it was cause he had no sort of appetite what so ever at the time. His eyes moved back to the girl sitting across from him. "Look .. I really don't give a flying leap .. what you would appreciate ... understand?" He wanted to make it clear he didn't eat because she said she wanted him to. He just didn't feel like being badgered by counselors. He looked back down and forced himself to eat a few more bites. Maybe if this place wasn't stuck out in the middle of no where they'd be able to get better food. "So why is it you sat with me huh .. If you were so worried about getting sideswiped" His eyes were now focused on her.

*can't stay at home, can't stay at school. old folks say, ya poor little fool ! DOWN THE STREET I'M THE GIRL NEXT DOOR. I'M THE FOX YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR Shelby could see him taking a few bites of his food. Good. "Look .. I really don't give a flying leap .. what you would appreciate ... understand?". She just gave a laugh. "A flying leap. Wow. I think what you mean to say was you don't give a flying FUCK what I would appreciate," Shelby said making sure to put emphasis on the word fuck. "And it doesn't really matter now does it? You've already done what I said and took bites of the food so problem solved. You were smart enough to take my advice so there we go." She took a few more bites of her food and then washed it down with her water. She would kill for a Pepsi right now. They had caffeine free ones earlier but apparently they all ran out. And students at Horizon weren't allowed to have anything that contained actual caffeine so she was screwed. She hated the days when "And the food actually does get better. Its just that when the Ridgerunners are on kitchens the food tends to suck because they can't cook worth shit." She pushed her plate aside, clearly finished. She wasn't taking another bite of that crap.
"So why is it you sat with me huh .. If you were so worried about getting sideswiped" Shelby rolled her eyes. "If you're trying to hint at the fact that you think I sat here because you're oh so dreamy and I just couldn't resist, don't flatter yourself." Her eyes traveled over to the cliffhangers table and found Scott who was just picking at his food. He had obviously developed an attitude within the last few minutes. "There are no empty tables. The people who are sitting by themselves are most likely on shuns which means I can't sit with them because it's against the rules. I just didn't want to sit with the other Cliffhangers and feel like getting questioned about why my pissy mood is even pissier than usual." She ran her fingers through her wavy hair and pursed her lips, her gaze going down to her nails and then to the boy. She leaned forward and looked at him while she played with one of her hoop earrings. "So that left your table new boy. In the 10 months that I've been here I've found that new kids don't often like to socialize during their first couple of weeks here. " She leaned back in her seat and raised an eyebrow. "But that clearly no longer applies to this situation anymore since we're having this absolutely fascinating conversation." she said sarcastically. * hello daddy, hello mom, i'm your ch ch ch ch ch cherry bomb ! , HELLO WORLD I'M YOUR WILD GIRL, I'M YOUR CH CH CH CH CH CHERRY BOMB tagged , anthony m.p! outfit , outfit!words , 448. lyrics , cherry bomb by the runaways. status , finished. notes , well hello there.

Anthony listened while she talked. She did seem to be in a pissy mood. He didn't really care why. So she picked the right table to sit at. He gave her a fake smile. "Oh so you mean your mood gets better?" He let the smile disappear. He wasn't one to pry into any ones life. Mostly because he had secrets he'd never tell any one. Things he'd never wanna bring up. Nothing would ever make them go away certainly not this 'safe place' or talking about his feelings. Part of him wished that they would just give up like everyone else has and let him go back to the one person who cared and never asked any questions, she just gave him what he needed.
"We new kids .. sure I'm sure some of us don't like to talk .. mostly we don't like answering questions about why we're here .. or at least I can speak for myself on that .. and I'm sure as hell not gonna answer any of their questions" His eyes glanced back over to the counselors. They seemed to still be watching the table. He looked back down at his plate. He took a few more bites again forcing himself to swallow again. His eyes moved back to the girl. "dreamy .. please .. I'm not interested in a relationship with any one ... ever ...." He looked down eating more. He thought about Sam. They're relationship wasn't official. They had agreed the other could see or do what ever or who ever else they wanted. Tho he never did .. He never told her she was the only one he wanted to be with. She was as close to a relationship as he would ever get. "It's a waste of time"

*can't stay at home, can't stay at school. old folks say, ya poor little fool ! DOWN THE STREET I'M THE GIRL NEXT DOOR. I'M THE FOX YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR Shelby gave the phoniest smile she could muster and leaned forward. "Oh yeah my mood gets better. Give me a few minutes. I'm sure rainbows and sunshine will be shooting right out of my ass." Leaning back she sipped her water. Her eyes wandered back over to the Cliffhangers table. Stacey had somehow made her way over there and was laughing a little too hard at something Scott was saying. She must have felt Shelby's eyes on her because she looked up. Obviously, remembering the threat that Shelby had made not too long before she quickly said something and then went back to her usual table. Shelby turned away before she and Scott locked eyes. She twirled a strand of hair around her finger over and over again. It was an annoying habit she had picked up from her sister while she had been at home and she couldn't seem to stop even though the habit annoyed the hell out of her.
"We new kids .. sure I'm sure some of us don't like to talk .. mostly we don't like answering questions about why we're here .. or at least I can speak for myself on that .. and I'm sure as hell not gonna answer any of their questions" Shelby just shrugged. "Trust me, you're preaching to the choir. I didn't talk when I first got here. Most people don't. When I finally did start talking, I only stated the obvious and I made it pretty damn obvious I wasn't for the whole sharing my feelings thing. I'm still not. I'm pretty good at avoiding and steering around questions that I don't want to answer." Her eyes moved down. She wasn't sure what she liked more. When people didn't know and just made up their own stories about her or people actually knowing at least half the truth. She was starting to think she liked the first the most. "Unfortunately, the people here are very persistent. They have patience practically coming out their asses. They waited a whole 8 months for me to talk about the real shit and I only did it out of....necessity." Biting her lip she added, "Doesn't mean they know everything though. " Clearing her throat she snapped out of her half-depressed state. "The point is, they'll wait. They'll back off for awhile and then, when you least expect it, BAM! They got you talking. You look like a bit of a softy anyway." she said with a smirk. * hello daddy, hello mom, i'm your ch ch ch ch ch cherry bomb ! , HELLO WORLD I'M YOUR WILD GIRL, I'M YOUR CH CH CH CH CH CHERRY BOMB tagged , anthony m.p! outfit , outfit!words , 432. lyrics , cherry bomb by the runaways. status , finished. notes , finally posted a new one!

Anthony listened to her. He found it hard to believe that she opened up to anyone. What with her attitude and all. He could believe that all she did was point out the obvious. He thought it was pretty safe to assume she still did. "I'm not in to the whole .. share my thoughts and feelings with other people either .. I was happy right where I was .. getting high and forgetting everything" His eyes stared at the table passed her. He thought about what he had seen. Why it was he wanted to forget everything .. the things that kept him awake at night. He finally pulled himself out of his thoughts.
"The point is, they'll wait. They'll back off for awhile and then, when you least expect it, BAM! They got you talking. You look like a bit of a softy anyway."
Anthony's eyes moved to her again. He saw her smirk a little. He leaned forward a little. "Softy? ... There's a huge assumption ... Isn't that what they call judging a book by its cover .. You don't know me .. or the things I've seen" He leaned back in his chair again. He rubbed his hands together his body craving another fix. His eyes moved back to the counselors again. Only one of them now had eyes on him. He shot them a glare. Then he looked back to Shelby. "Thanks for the heads up .. I'll be sure not to let my guard down"

*can't stay at home, can't stay at school. old folks say, ya poor little fool ! DOWN THE STREET I'M THE GIRL NEXT DOOR. I'M THE FOX YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR Shelby couldn't help but laugh. This guy reminded her of Scott. Whether that was good or bad, well she wasn't really sure yet. "Yeah weren't we all. Everyone has something their trying to forget. People just chose different ways to forget." She bit her lip. She couldn't forget even if she tried. That was the terrible truth about it. All the counselors said with time it would get better. Whatever. What if she didn't want to forget? She wasn't going to forgive so why should she forget? "Anyway, truth be told. Whether you think so right now or not, it's better in here then it is out there in the real world. Trust me. Well except for the fact that the real world has nicotine and caffeine."
"Softy? ... There's a huge assumption ... Isn't that what they call judging a book by its cover .. You don't know me .. or the things I've seen" Shelby nodded. "Wow. This is definitely just like looking in the mirror. I think I've said that like a million times. Then again, I think I would rather have people think what they want about me then tell them the truth. That way their pretty little views of the world doesn't get shattered. People want to live in fantasy so let them." She just shrugged. People said they wanted the truth, but most didn't. They wanted the cookie cutter version of the truth so that they could go on believing that the world was perfect. That's part of the reason that they were all at Horizon. So the outside world could stay perfect. "And no problem about the heads up. It'll be interesting to see how long you last." * hello daddy, hello mom, i'm your ch ch ch ch ch cherry bomb ! , HELLO WORLD I'M YOUR WILD GIRL, I'M YOUR CH CH CH CH CH CHERRY BOMB tagged , anthony m.p! outfit , outfit!words , 297. lyrics , cherry bomb by the runaways. status , finished. notes , finally posted a new one!

"Anyway, truth be told. Whether you think so right now or not, it's better in here then it is out there in the real world. Trust me. Well except for the fact that the real world has nicotine and caffeine."
Anthony looked down at the table for a moment. He didn't really see how things here were better then being .. 'free'. "How do you figure?" He really wasn't interested in getting his neck breathed down by a bunch of grown ups who couldn't take no for an answer. Their questions were all the same. Do you wanna talk about it? And his answer will remain the same. No, leave me the hell alone. They had tried to get him to talk when they admitted him. They pretended to be really nice to him for a while. Then they tried to provoke things out of him. That obviously wasn't going to work. Nothing would. If he didn't tell the person he trusted the most in the world, he sure as hell wasn't going to tell them.
"Wow. This is definitely just like looking in the mirror. I think I've said that like a million times. Then again, I think I would rather have people think what they want about me then tell them the truth. That way their pretty little views of the world doesn't get shattered. People want to live in fantasy so let them."
His eyes looked back up at her. "I don't have any fantasies of this world ... I've seen it at its worst ... as for how long I'll last ... I think you'd be surprised .. I've gone eight years without talking .. what's another two or three" He gave her a small faint smile.

*can't stay at home, can't stay at school. old folks say, ya poor little fool ! DOWN THE STREET I'M THE GIRL NEXT DOOR. I'M THE FOX YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR "How do you figure?" Shelby couldn't help, but smile. She had thought the same thing when she first got here. Actually, she still asked herself that question sometimes. Freedom. Sweet freedom. Everyone wanted it as soon as they were forced to go to Horizon. Honestly, though, the reality for Shelby was, where would she go? What would she do? She'd either have to live in shelters or she would have to go back to what she was doing when she lived on the streets before. There may have been one person, two at the most, who she could go stay with if she left Horizon right now. Even then there were no guarantees. "For me it is anyway. I don't have anything worth going back to at home. For me, right now, this is way better than being at home. Anything is better than going home, even the streets. Trust me, I know. I lived on the streets for about a year before coming here cause I ran away from home. Yeah, I survived, and I could do it again if I had to, but that doesn't mean I liked it. I would just be going from one shitty situation to another. So yeah for me...Horizon is the best I'm going to get right now, as sucky as that sounds." She fidgeted and plucked with her nails. "I'd rather take my chances in here, than back out there again. I've seen shitty things happy to people who don't deserve that. I've gone through way to much. I know how the real world is and what it actually looks like...even if half the kids in here don't."
Shaking her head and pulling at her shirt a bit she added, "And at least I know that the counselors, no matter how much they piss me off and annoy the hell out of me, give at least two shit about me. That's more than I can say about my own mother. They've definitely proved that." It was true. Peter and Sophie, well they actually cared. All of the counselors did. AT least in here, she knew who she could attempt to trust. Out in the world, she couldn't trust anyone but herself. That was a proven fact.
"I don't have any fantasies of this world ... I've seen it at its worst ... as for how long I'll last ... I think you'd be surprised .. I've gone eight years without talking .. what's another two or three" You just may last the entire time, though I'm not sure you'll want to. If you actually pull it off, you'll be the first. Anthony watched her smile. If anything he supposed he made her feel a little bit better then the peachy mood she was in when she sat down. He listened to her talk about some of why she thought Horizon was a better place then most. She said Horizon was her best option at the moment. His eyes looked down at the table. It made him think about his options. If he left Horizon now he wasn't sure where he'd go. He couldn't go home, well he probably could but .. honestly he didn't want to be there. Maybe Sam would let him stay for a little while. But for how long he didn't know. And he didn't really have any one else. "I guess .. Horizon is all I really have now that I've been forced to leave my life back home."
She mentioned that as annoying as they were the counselors there were actually trustworthy. He wasn't sure who he could trust. He never was sure. Someone could kill him with the information he knows. For the things he saw .. faces he saw. He never knew who was after him. He knew counselors here, they couldn't fix things for him. Maybe get him clean but they could never erase the images in his head. "It doesn't matter how trustworthy they are or how much they care .. even if I decided to talk to one of them .. they can't fix me or erase my memory ... and I don't want their pity" He kept his eyes down at the table instead of moving them back up to look at her.

She moved her fingers through her hair and pulled it back so it was off of her face. She tapped her fingers on the table and thought about her house. That was a sucky ass place to live and there was no arguing with that. "It doesn't matter how trustworthy they are or how much they care .. even if I decided to talk to one of them .. they can't fix me or erase my memory ... and I don't want their pity "They don't want to erase you're memory. They are mad scientist you know. Though erasing my memory would definitely earn them points in my book. They just want to work through them with you. I mean, I don't see the whole fixing thing happening with me either. I'm broken and I've come to terms with that. They do it though. You know some of the counselors actually went here. Peter did and a couple of the others. Apparently they turned out halfway normal."
She shrugged and grabbed a spoon. She was having an ice craving. Weird, yes, but hey, she had them. Why deny herself. She used the spoon to scoop an ice cube out of the glass and popped it in her mouth. She started humming one of her favorite songs from Fame. "Okay new subject. Anthony thought about how tough Cordelia had always been on him. She wasn't really the type of person to be raising two little boys. But most of the time she was to busy working to really notice all the changes in him. That or she really didn't care at all. Maybe even both. He guessed being at Horizon was the safest place for now. But he knows he can still be hunted down if those people ever realize he saw what he saw. He was sort of surprised he was still alive and hadn't been hunted down. And to tell the truth not that he would say it out loud here to any one at least right now, he was glad to be out of that house. Living with the memories was hard enough but to have to live in the very house it all happened in made it tougher. "Are you trying to tell me I should talk to them? Trust them?"
Anthony looked back up from the table and saw her eat an ice cube. He ran his hand through his blonde hair then let his hands rest of the table. "Okay new subject. If I have to think about my house anymore I might just stab someone with a fork. What group did they put you in?" He gave her a small smile. He knew how it felt to think of places you didn't like. "Trackers ... probably not lucky enough to be your group too right" He actually now didn't mind that she had come to sit with him. Her attitude was the type to tell you the truth no matter how much it hurt and he wanted some one to keep things straight for him. Maybe he could trust her opinions. But he wasn't sure just yet.
